The true death seems to be in store for any human or vampire in sight. For six seasons now Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) has evaded death, wooed creatures and still some how has a job despite the fact that she rarely works. Now the telepathic fairy of Louisiana must prepare for battle along with her small town that seems to be in even more trouble in HBO’s latest teaser trailer.
With the horde of Hep V infected vampires from last season’s cliffhanger moving in on Sam’s (Sam Trammell) old bar, the teaser says that neither supernatural creature or human is safe from these infected vessels. The infected vampires appear to be the zombies of the vampire world, devouring what ever being they can get their hands on. In classic True Blood fashion, last season’s finale has set the stage for season 7, declaring an all out war between the town of Bon Temps and these infected vampires.
In a voice over, Sookie says that the government has left the residents of Bon Temps on their own to fend for themselves. The stores and churches are boarded up, Maxine Fortenberry (Dale Raoul) is getting a gun and this town is about to strongly resemble the monsters that they’ve despised throughout the series. The show has always excelled at using this fictional town as a way to mirror the political ideals and agendas of the modern day society. However, the last season has strongly hinted that the creators were heading down the path of showing the mayhem that would ensue in such an environment.
The final season of True Blood seems hell bent on going back to the basics of the season 1, focusing on just the members of this town. They’ve expanded this universe so much that it will be a nice change of pace to return the characters to their roots. Especially since the government isn’t going to help them, these characters have to finally band together to save their town from what seems like an apocalyptic like battle. Hopefully Eric some how made it out of his blazing death and will be included in this final season. Although if he didn’t meet the true death already, it might be creeping up on the horizon.
