As the summer heat begins to dissolve, we are rapidly approaching that glorious time of year that every entertainment junky loves: Fall TV season! Also, on a biased note, October is only a month away and happens to hold my favorite holiday of Halloween. There’s nothing more fitting to this coming celebration than to see what is happening under the big top of the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Freak Show!
FX has blessed us with an extended teaser trailer filled with the recurring actors we love in all of their “freakish” glory. Here’s what we now know: Sarah Paulson (aka the Supreme… she still is) will be a two-headed character. Bette and Dot are their names and we have yet to know which is which. We do get a creepy glare from one and a half smile from the other. Maybe this is early telling that we want to like the girl giving us the smile? Or, it could be a complete reversal! That smile does look a little leering… hmm.
The ever amazing Jessica Lange of course makes her mark in the teaser as the beautiful Elsa Mars. Who she is or what her connection is to the whole freakshow is not yet known. My money is that she’s their host/ringleader since it’s Jessica “I Won the Lead Actress Emmy” Lange and what other position should she be in than in charge! Once again, the always sex driven young male character is played by Evan Peters. But, wait, what’s this? He has flippers for hands and his name is Jimmy Darling! I’m sure he’ll find a way to make those flippers work in more ways than one.
Another character with the last name Darling, Kathy Bates returns as Ethel “The Bearded Lady” Darling. Does this hint a relationship between Ethel and Jimmy? Possible she is his mother… or they could be married?! This is a freakshow folks.
Angela Bassett appears as the well endowed Desiree Dupree. I’m not kidding on the endowed part either. Where she is supposed to have two… she has three. We also get our first look at newcomer to AHS Michael Chiklis as Wendell del Toledo. And boy does he look the strong man part, leopard print tunic and all!
No news yet on returning actors and what parts they will play. Needless to say, this upcoming season is going to be wild and freaky. Fingers crossed for a blooper reel where the cast sings Britney Spears “Circus” in costume.
