Run time: 92 min

This documentary style concert movie is about the British band One Direction. It features their homes, rise to fame, and lifestyles as they are now. Morgan Spurlock, an Oscar nominee, is in charge of directing this film. Famous for the documentary Super Size Me, Spurlock’s style will have a point and an interesting message that most people might miss in thinking this is just another fan movie. From other reviews, the point of this movie is to understand that this band is made of people and not pre-fabricated ideas that are prefect and meant for the sole consumption of the public. It involves a lot more thought about the fact that these guys are all different because they were only put together a few years ago. Although this may be what the director wanted to convey, it is still about a boy band that is mostly popular amongst younger females. This movie is a hit or miss. Either you are a fan of the band and want to get to know more about them, or you are not, in which I would say this movie is not for you.

Starring: Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight, Paul Freeman

Rating: PG-13

Run Time: 90 min

This movie is about Brent Magna, Ethan Hawke, a retired race car driver who has had his wife kidnapped and must rescue her. To safe her he steels a woman’s car, Selena Gomez, in order to find his wife. On Rotten Tomatoes, this movie has the absolutely worst score I have seen. A whole 2% with a smattering of rotten tomatoes cover all the reviews on the movies page. So far the best part about this movie is the car, which is a Shelby GT500. This movie has a plot and a defined idea behind it, but what it seems to lack is any variation or character development. Car crashes, chases, and general car mayhem will be the real source of entertainment in this movie judging from the trailer and photo stills. This is not an artsy movie or anything overly complicated. If you are looking for something simple that will still entertain then this is for you. But Getaway feels more like something to watch at home on tv rather than in the movies.

Starring: Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall, Jim Broadbent, Ciaràn Hinds, Julia Stiles

Rating: R

Run Time: 96 min

So far judging from the movies that are opening this weekend, Closed Circuit will be the best bet if you decide to go to the theatre. For starters there are some great actors, which include an Oscar winner and two Golden Globe Nominees. The plot centers on two Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall, who were once romantically involved, who are now on the same defense team, but must find out the truth about the case they are working on when new evidence might suggest a conspiracy. This trailer looks entertaining. The mystery definitely is eye catching, but not entirely new and exciting. This feels like a mix of the Borne series and George Orwell. It might not be the best choice with the screenplay supposedly having some holes and not much action going on, but it offers some great acting with a dependable plot. This movie will be all about working up to the climax.
