To those of you who enjoyed Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s stints as hosts at last year’s Golden Globes ceremony, you may now breath a sigh of relief. In fact make it several, because it was announced today the dynamic duo of Hollywood will return as hosts at 2014 and 2015‘s ceremony.
Last year they proved to be the perfect remedy to those who felt like Ricky Gervais was too harsh. Fey and Poehler proved to be the anti-Gervais by poking fun at the nominees and each other in a sweeter and smoother way. 2013’s Golden Globes ratings were up by 28% in comparison to the 2012 show, thus proving the likability of Fey and Poehler.
In fact the two have become so beloved at award shows that viewers look forward to seeing them on the screen, just to see what comedic shenanigans they have in store. Even when they’re not hosting they find a way to steal the show, some times they do this without saying anything. Look back at Poehler at any Emmy telecast in the past five years. Hopefully, the two won’t over stay their welcome as Gervais did. However, the charm that they have isn’t easy to replicate, so the audience and producers shouldn’t have a problem.
The Golden Globes will be on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
