The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt trailer premiered this weekend at Spike TV’s 2013 Video Games Awards. Following the critically acclaimed Witcher 2, Wild Hunt closes out the trilogy of fantasy RPGs. Game Producers CD Projekt Red gave a sneak peak of gameplay which looks to surpass its predecessors. Projekt Red created a new game engine specifically developed to handle nonlinear games and vast open worlds. Game designers hope to find a good balance between complex story and beautiful visual design.
The trailer showed fans what this engine will bring such as breathtaking graphics and detailed combat systems. Some of the in-game shots are so complex and filled with detail that you can see wheat grain blowing in the wind. Story wise, Monster hunter Geralt of Rivia returns as the main protagonist to defeat the rising evil. The trailer introduces a mysterious destructive enemy but keeps them rather ambiguous. Hopefully The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will satisfy the fans of the story of the previous games. Nonetheless the trailer offers plenty for fans to get excited for.
Of the games showcased at the VGX, Wild Hunt was the only open world RPG. The majority of New Generation titles are shooters and since Bethseda (Elder Scrolls Saga) have been working on the The Elder Scrolls Online, the slot for console fantasy RPGs is wide open. The new capabilities of the Next Generation consoles will bring forth a higher level of breathtaking graphics and immersive gameplay that the Witcher series is known for. It will be one of the most visually powerful games of 2014. Wild Hunt has no loading screens as gamemakers try to make the world more realistic.
Many people were worried that after the success of the Witcher 2, the developers would relax but obviously CD Projekt Red has been busy. Wild Hunt promises to be the crowning jewel of The Witcher series. It is one of the most anticipated games for the new generation consoles.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is slated for release in 2014 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
